I have a 1950 Ford tudor sedan. this is my first ford and i dont know much about them. So should i change out the stock straight six to a big block or should i keep it stock? And does anyone know were to find a good big block and how much should i pay for one. If you have a pic of your engine post it so i can see it pleas.

Roy, if I'm you, buildin on a budjet, just lookin for a good cruiser, I'm lookin for a Ford donor car. Maybe a Granada, older Explorer, something with a 302, 289 cube V8, auto trans and a rear end that I can bolt under your 50' tudor. Some spin off benifits are things like a tilt coulm, seats, wiper motors, ect. that you can also use. I have used donor cars in the past and spent the cash I saved on things like paint, wheels and go goodies. Good luck.

blksheep....frank opinions offered cheap.

Roy,
It depends on what you want to do with the car.
First Ford?
First Hotrod/Custom?
Or are you a 40 year veteran drag racer who's been doing Chevys...That kind of first Ford?
If you're customizing it and the six runs, keep it. It's a good engine.
If you're building a hotrod street racer drag car...A SBC will probably fit easiest. they go up to 400" and scoot in a light car.
You didn't give any bio about youself so it's hard to recommend what to do with a car to a stranger...

I have a nice ford 460 sitting on a stand in my basement. It has a Edelbrock intake. Needs carb, starter, distributer cap flywheel/flexplate. Have an auto trans for it that I picked up for nothing. Really wouldn't trust that though, but it can go with the engine for nothing. E'Mail me if you are interested. UH60Pete@Aol.com

Why MUST it be big? Thats just extra weight and twice as heavy on the wallet during build up....you can hop up a belly button just as much if not more for not alot of $$$.

Bring the Monster on....I know of one SB powered blown Deuce in VA that WILL tear big blocks a new rear end. Been in the game since the 80's? "Super Squirrel" ring a bell? Blue? Tubbed? Blower w/ NOS....Big aint necessarily better.
