54/55 chevy Rear end Parts availability?

Alright you book gurus, breakout your cross-reference catalogues.
I just picked up a rare open Chevy rear end from a 1st series '55 Chevy pick up with the 3.90 gear for my '54 pu.
The plan is to do all the usual maintenence prior to installation, like axle bearings, brakes, maybe drums. What I want to know is how much of that stuff was used into the later years ('60's -early '70's)? I have heard that some of the drums were used into the early '70's for some trucks. I want to maintain the 6 bolt pattern, but am interested in maybe converting the everyting to disc. If all I can get is drums for this rear, then I'll do the combo. At the least I want to bring it up to snuff. The kicker is, I know that I can get most of theis stuff through places like Cehvy Duty, but if I can get it at NAPA or some real parts store like it, I think it will probably be cheaper. Any ideas?

Hi Robin!
We are in the process of doing a rear disc swap on a Toyota Landcruiser. The Full floating rear axle shares the six bolt pattern with the Chevys. The customer supplied us with rotors that slip right on the axle as well as Caddy calipers. We custom fabricated the caliper mounts from 3/8 plate. It was a simple bracket to make. I can't remember what the rotors where from. I think they may be Toyota 4x4 PU front discs, but will check with the customer. I'll see if I can get you some part numbers to ease the locating process. I can also e-mail you some pics if you think they will help you. rj

That would rock!
Part numbers would make this real easy indeed!
What Caddy calipers did you use?
Do you have a template for the braket?
Email me, please.
Thanks again.
