Mustang II Disc Brakes

I have a 35 Chevy with a mustang II front. I can get the original type rotors/calipers from the local parts stores for cheap, but was wondering if there was a bigger caliper/rotor option that I could go with. I'm not really looking to spend big $$ on a conversion with one of the big brake outfits, but wondering if there is a low dollar option to bolting on bigger/better calipers and rotors. I have ford explorer rear brakes and will be running a hydroboost booster so I will have plenty of "clamping" power.

Yes. I upgraded to 11" Chevy Bolt Pattern rotors. It's been awhile, so I'm guessing the dollar amount, but, $120/pair. There are rotor upgrades as well. Most of the Street Rod shops have these available. Will fit right on you Mustang Spindle.

Ditto, Dooce! I put Granada rotors and 84 Monte Carlo calipers on my '32, they worked great. I just had to buy the adapters from Heidt. ($99) if you are handy, and can weld, you could easily make them from 1/4 inch plate.

Cool!!! I found the granada rotors($58) that fit right on my spindles, 1985 Z28 calipers($21) and a handy bracket from Progressive Automotive($89) to bolt on the calipers!

I went with the Granada rotors since they have the same pattern(I think) as the ford explorer rotors that I have on the back! Now I'll have 11" disc brakes all the way around and a hydroboost to provide lots of torque to stop! Those brakes should work well to stop the car as the LS1/4L60E should have plenty of power to make it go.

I am almost done boxing the frame rails!!! I have about 3 feet left. Then I can weld in the tubular crossmember, bolt on the front suspesion and take it off the jig! Then I have to setup the body and rear end.

A very wise upgrade ! Saved the nose of my 36 because I had upgraded to 11" brakes . Would have had a major accident with the old 9" mustang binders. Is most apparent to those who have driven the same car with both set ups . You did well !!!!!! Wink
