416 engine shots for uncle edcroozer

When I tried to download the pics of the buildup from the floppy, the disc died !!ARRRRGGHH......So here are a couple of shots of what it looks like right at the moment. I have tried to keep it rather low key. Walk softly, but tote a big crankshaft..........If you look real close, you can see where I had to notch the bottom of each cylinder bore,to make clearance for the rod bolts. The pistons are a Ross reversed dome design,9:5.1 compression.Camshaft is a roller with roller rockers(1.7 ratio)I also had to gut the baffles out of the valve covers to get them over the rockers.http://photo.starblvd.net/~SKR8PN/2-4-1.jpg?i=1056206330 http://photo.starblvd.net/~SKR8PN/2-3-5.jpg?i=1055827473 http://photo.starblvd.net/~SKR8PN/2-4-3.jpg?i=1056206383

Ya I know.......no oil pump......Waiting for the new pan to get here so I can measure for the pickup. I should have rolled the crank over to show where we also had to remove metal from the rear weight to make room for the oil pump, before the assembly was balanced. Those Eagle rods are a work of art.PERFECTLY matched weights right out of the box. The Ross Superlite pistons were just as nice and only required VERY minimal material removal for balance.Cam is MP unit with a 108 center line and I installed it at 106.I don't plan on having to rev this this much past 6 grand, but I wanted it to be a stump puller.Cylinder heads are my own design and flow work on stock castings.Intake and exhaust valves are stainless MP's with the intake being oversize at 1.970.Exhaust is standard. Compression is low enough and the bottom end is strong enough, that if I feel the need,we can add a little "horsepower in a bottle" later on. The plan right now is to get some dyno time on it,then add it to the truck when we are into the final assembly......unless I happen to find a car to use as a test victim!!!!

Looks good Slick, That's a pretty big small block, should be fun, remeber to tell everyone it's just a 318, or better yet a 273.

SWEET! I bet thats gonna rock. There is a real nice 65 Valiant for 600 bucks in the Goodguys gazette. 2 door HT. Looks real clean. It would live well in there.
