Ignition coil

I was just doing a little catching up on Scooters progress on the 33. He said that he was told that he shouldn't mount his oil filled coil in the position he had planned (horizontal) because some of the windings would not be covered and cooled by the oil in that position and might cause it to overheat, so he went with an epoxy filled coil.
Do any of ya'll out there know if the same applies to mounting a coil with the tower pointing down? I was planning on mounting the coil on my 46 project in that position on the interior side of the firewall.
Thanks in advance, Wayne

Measure twice; cut once, ie. "I cut it three times and it's still too short"

All the V-Dubs that I used to work on had the coil mounted tower down.

And the V-Dub coils after about '66 and a half (12 volt systems) had 12 volt coils that didn't require a ballast resistor or reducing wire...I ran them in every position you can think of and never had a problem..My sons Nova quit on him and we determined the primary side of the coil was open. I dropped on a VW coil and its still there to this day.
