$$$ Question

I'd like a little feed back here, please. ~If there was a car club (a real one, not just a cyber one) out there and it was definately one car type related and the dues were $50/year. Would you join if you had that specific make of car. I'm not referring to big clubs like NSRA or Good Guys, KKOA, etc. but one that is internationally known...would you join? I find the cost to be a bit high for the benefits I would get from this club. It also doesn't help to be "isolated" so to speak here in the Pacific North West. Your thoughts???

Unless you just want to make a contribution to the hobby (and I think there are other ways) I would want some bang for my buck.

"Bang for my Buck" includes, t-shirt every year, some member decals for windshields, member pocket I.D card, and a monthly 4 page photo-copied newsletter which has a list (usually 1 double sided page) of_so called_Club Sponsors...my thoughts are that if there are that many sponsors, aren't they contributing to the club, and yet I see no signs of any benefits from any of them. I can usually get their products cheaper at the old car center here...no thats not a plug just a for instance!!!

Doug, If the club is local. you could ask to spend a few meetings and shows, and what ever with them to see if you like it.

Over the years of my street rodding i've been in alot of clubs. the most i lasted was 5 years. You have your workers, and you'll have your loofers. A member can only take some much. That's one of the reason i quit that club.

The last club i belonged to was 1983. Havn't been a club since. The guys i show with and hang with now are great.

It would have to a very special club for me to join.

just my 2 cents

Doug, I don't understand the delima here, lol NO, I would not spend that kind of money for what your getting!! If this is an international club, how many members does it have? At 50.00 a yr and thats all your getting, where is the rest of the money going? Chariety? probably not!!!! If so, that might be ONE reason to join. Just my .02.

I used to belong to the Studebaker Drivers club at those figures until I sold the Studebaker. I haven't joined the Oldsmobile club yet (and may not) since they don't seem to like modified cars. You usually get access to some parts and info that you might not find any where else.

I had belonged to Late Great Chevy when I was doing my car, but dropped out after I finished. They were in FL, and I'm here, so I didn't make any shows they might have had. At $35/year, we got a real nice magazine monthly, and you could buy or sell in it, but the price that LGC wanted for every-day used parts was rediculous. There is a local club here that has asked if I want to join, but I always refuse. Same thing that everyone else says; you have cliques, workers, and loafers. I go to the shows and pay the fee to get in, and that's it.

I've belonged to one and only one international club worth it's salt (PINHEADS pinstripers org.) Decent monthly magazine, membership certificate (not some cheesy biz. card either...8.5x11 piece of paper done up right nice..it's framed on my wall.) T-shirt, hats and 2 round hat pins with the logo. Similar to our SRS/DSRA meetings around here at different shows, Bob Bond (famed pinstriper and Pres. of the Org.) hold national striping events (Terry Cooks "Lead East" is one of the shows) all over the country.

All for $25 annually.....cant beat it if your into slingin' paint with brushes.

Doug, Take a look at the thread on Rodder.com called O.O.F.C.C. Now, that's my kinda club...No dues...No meetings... no hassles, just a bunch of like minded guys get together to put on a show each August and a run in the spring.

No way, unless there was a specific benefit I would be using, to make it worth while.

No Hats, No Nothing just the satisfaction of knowing your money went to a needy fellow in car hobby and all from the comfort of your easy chair.

booo. personally, i believe that car clubs should be paying YOU to bring your car to their shows and whatnot. Plus, its not like you would be getting any more info from their newsletters that you couldnt find online, or HERE for that matter. SRS is the best car club--free advice and a 24/7 car show!
just my 2 cents
