What's Going On In Your Shop???

Very cold outside,It's snowing and I have a little time to kill so thought I'd post a couple photos of the in-progress 36.Thought it would be cool if anyone else working on a project would post some photos as well.I like to see build-up photos as much as the finished product(to steal ideas)and perhaps it'll relieve some boredom! This is the chassis just before we set the body on.

Ed, I was going to use a torsion bar but slick talked me out of it and for now I'm going to stay with the original front for now and later go mustangII the orginal is still tight and rides great but will be changing the steering box to maybe a rack if I can and the rear will be an 8 3/4 mopar. I just want to get it so I can drive it safely this summer then do some more mods on the rear suspension. Plans are for the stangII front and triangulated 4 bar rear with air bags. I've had the car for 26 years and am tired of not having it done to cruze the shows. So get it safe to drive for the summer and then finish it the next couple of years and still be able to hit some shows each year. Bill

Lookin' good, Bill! When I get some up, I'll send ya some pics of our first "Family Ride"....'40 Plymouth 4 Door 350/350 Turbo 9" rear Corvette disc brakes ect..just your average streetrod... Had it for 10 years and regret selling it. Sold it in Jersey, went to Delaware, then back to Jersey and never seen it since. Really a fun car....took it everywhere no matter the weather.

Lance,I have had the coupe for about a year...would have been lots further along if everything hadn't gone to hell with the yellow 37.The photos above were taken at my buddies shop...he is a welder by trade and does all of the welding on my chassis. It is back in my shop now and I am fitting the rest of the sheetmetal...will then blow it back apart for paint. The car was as close to perfect as any I've seen, the paint was really nice overall but by the time I filled the holes in the rear pan from the tire carrier, installed the new firewall,it is about as easy to paint the whole car...the underside was still the original factory primer. It has a very nice original style interior that I will use for now...I'm still a little gunshy around interior shops :>)

Now it sits there while i fix all the broken stuff on the snow plow trucks.Snow coming again for monday. Figures i would take feb march off and try to do my own car. LOL It aint going anywere now till its a roller thats for sure. Maybe i can get ED to come over and do it for me . Hell it should only take him 10 days. LOL......... Rick...The wheels are Knock-Off Mehelich Cruzr's...they are a take off of the old Halibrand Kidney Beans.I don't know if Mehelich is still in business,I think possibly that Wheel Vintique bought them out as I see they just began advertising that wheel.I've had these wheels sitting unopened in a corner of the shop forever, decided to mount a couple and see what they looked like on the 36.I usually end up buying at least 2 sets of wheels for every car so have quite a collection in the corner.I will run these wheels or red steelies with WWW radials,40 trim rings and caps...Then these can go back in the corner!

Working on my coupe. It seems like one step forward, then half a step back. Every time I go to add another part I'm forced to fabricate another one first. Nothing ever seems to go easy. But it's still fun. Make me think and get more creative.

Working on my Road Runner today. Plagued by a nagging oil leak that I haven't been able to find for quite some time. Just can't pin point it. Today I used a dye kit from Eastwood. I found the leak with ease and now it's time to change the pan gasket.

I got the the machine work done on the engine block (354 Hemi), the cylinder heads are done, frame built, the front suspension done and the brackets welded to rear end housing. I still have to weld the rear 4 bar chassis brackets to the frame, but I'm waiting until I decide on the final wheelbase (92-96 inch, it's a short one).

I just got the headlights, and should get some more brackets made up for them. I'm going to try and make it so the front tube nerf bumper under the grill shell bolts on, so I can switch between one with a moon tank and one with just a chrome tube nerf bumper, and maybe even run a set of tubes out to mount the headlights on.

Just waiting on making a couple more bucks before I go any further.
