I am installing a 1990 Chev. 350 in a 1981 GMC Caballero, which is the same as an El Camino. How complicated is it to hook-up and run the Throttle Body Injection system and my Caballero. If it is not feasible, I can change to an aluminum intake and carb.

You need to get a book by Mike Knell call "Chevrolet TPI & TBI Engine Swapping" He has a new edition and it is about $30.00 but worth every penny. Street and Performance sells it but it is also available through book sources on the internet and at bookstores. Also check in at http://www.chevytalk.org/threads/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=UBB12 I am currently doing a 1954 car with TBI.

Thanks for the help. I'm working Midnight shift this week, so I won't get to look much for a few days. I will check with Books A Million in Monroe, La. soon. I have a friend in Arcadia La. that has a 53 car that has won several shows. It is a beautiful machine. I know you will enjoy yours. Thanks again

It is not hard to hook up the TBI system, provided you have what you need.
I have done several swaps and retro-fits with good success.
Unless you are very familiar with how EFI works, I would sugest going with an aftermarket wiring harness like Painless.
It helps to do a little reading. There are number of sites on the internet that are very informative.
I would suggest running a closed loop system.
The last swap I did involved grafting the sensors on a '92 Camaro 305 wiring harness into the harness for a 1987 2.8 TBI motor. I then used a computer out of a 1987 truck with a 350. That way it matched up to my harness plug and didn't have the VAT system in the prom. They only put VATS on cars.
Of course, I changed the prom in the computer, but I could have run the original one.
The existing map will usually work if you don't change the displacement by more than 30%. It just won't be optimal.

Thanks, Justice, for your help. With your input and others, I feel like it can be done maybe even by someone as untrained as myself. I will do some reading and maybe this project might live in spite of myself.

I have done several of these types of swaps. You will need the wiring diagrams for both the car and the motor. I can rewire it for you check out http://www.hotrodsandclassics.net/shoptours/jimlyons/jimlyons.htm
