A big thanks to Slick and Willy
by beatnik

Wanted to thank Jim (Slick) and Debb (Willy) for a GREAT! time this weekend. The hospitialty at the Branch Ranch BBQ was outstanding. All the folks there were awsome, had some great conversations, saw some great cars, and a lot of potential projects at Bowmans Place. Will post some pictures tonight.

It was very nice getting to meet everyone.

I'll second that! had a great time. You won't believe the Bowman place until you see it. Indescribeable. Congrats to Dick on his retirement.

Willy and I had a great time! It was good to get to meet and talk to everyone that came. Dick, Karen and Chris, thanks very much for the opportunity to do this.Without the friendship on the SRS it would not have happened.Rich and Delores,a couple of very nice folks, thanks for coming and bringing that beautiful flamed Hotrod!
RatRodMac and your friend(I'm sorry,CRS disease set in!)Thanks and that is a very nice old Ford! Ken,Marilyn,Bill and Sue,thanks so much for doing the NSRA inspections and making sure everyone is safe. You guys are great and I hope to run into you at Mid-Ohio some time! I still want one of those NSRA mats to hang on my shop wall. Ken,you listening??? Enjenjo,FatCat and family,I can't tell you guys how much we enjoyed your company, you guys are a serious wealth of info and I want to set down over a beer or two and pick your brains again some day! That Airflow is incredible! Hotrodladycruzr and Beatnik, what can I say...you guys are the best and I thank you very much for coming. Man,you GOTTA love that Big Olds!! That thing runs GREAT!! I know Patrick and Aimee had a good time showing every one around his shop. I can't wait to get SKR8PN on the road!!!
Willy and I are seriously considering making this a yearly get-together,but I know Bowmans is going to be emptied out in another year or so,so if we do this,we are going to have to come up with a garage crawl or something! We WILL work on it! Hope everyone got enough to eat and drink and had a good time. Beatnik, since I was tied to the grill and did not get to take any pics,YOU get to do the posting!Loved having you guys and thanks again to everyone for coming!!

I too want to thank Jim and Debb for inviting everyone to their home. This was a great idea! It's always nice to put a face to the names we see on the site. The tin hunt was awesome. Thanks, Jim for letting us in on this secret before everything is gone. Seeing all that old stuff in one place is something I'll remember for a long time. It was a really great experience. The food was excellent (Jim wasn't messin' around when he said he bought a new grill)! I also want to thank Ken, Marilyn, Bill and Sue for doing the NSRA safety inspections. That was a great idea, and something I didn't expect. Hey Ken, I bought a horn today :) I definately think this could turn into a yearly event. Thanks again Jim and Debb!

Sounds like you all had a great time. It was a bit too far, too soon for me to travel that far. Wish i could have been there with a big appetite and big cash in my pockets, well one out of two ain't too bad.

Thanks for the picture. I can't leave those two alone for a minute. :-) I wonder who found the Playboy Magazine first....father or son? Dick Z & I also want to thank Jim & Deb for a great time. We did feel like we were one big "happy" family and had known each other for years....the weather even cooperated! Hope to see all at a future car event!

Sure wish I didn't have to miss the get together but I didn't think I could have made it back home in time for the wedding. After seeing the pic's I KNOW I wouldn't have.
I want to thank you and Debb for the invite, Jim. You got style!!
It would have been nice to get reaquainted with some recently met friends and to have met some new ones. But, I am sure that I'll get to see some of you at the shows this summer.

JUST WANT TO TELL YOU ALL THAT DELORES AND I ENJOYED TALKING WITH EVERYBODY AT THE "BRANCH RANCH" GATHERING...... THAT WAS A GREAT IDEA AND WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK SLICK & WILLY FOR ALL OF THE EFFORT THEY PUT INTO THIS AFFAIR..... THEY MADE US FEEL LIKE "ONE OF THE FAMILY"..... IT WAS FUN !!! THE FOOD WAS GREAT !!! THE BEER WAS COLD !!!! AND THE STAINLESS STEEL MONSTER GRILL DID NOT EXPLODE (ALTHOUGH ONCE LIT IT DID ADD 15 DEGREES TO THE ENTIRE COUNTY) !!!! IT WAS A REAL GOOD TIME. THE PICTURES THAT HAVE BEEN POSTED HERE ADD TO THE EVENT. AS DELORES AND I LOOKED THROUGH THESE PICTURES WE RELIVED SOME OF THE CONVERSATIONS AND STORIES AND STARTED LAUGHING ALL OVER AGAIN..... IT WAS LOADS OF FUN AND THE WEATHER, PERFECT. ...AND A COUPLE "CRAZY'S" DROVE DOWN FROM MICHIGAN IN A CONVERTIBLE WITH NO TOP AND NO HEATER !
NOW THAT IS HARD CORE.... HEY SLICK, I THINK I'LL HAVE ANOTHER BEER ALSO....

I'm sorry that I couldn't make it but I was able to take my 54 on a 600 mile journey that landed me a '62 vintage Buick all aluminum 215. Now I need to think of where to stash it...

Wanted to extend our appreciation to Jim and Debb also. It was really a great day. The hospitality went far beyond what was necessary, but it was good and plentiful. The antiques at the "junk yard" were really exciting. Hope they
(Bowmans) respond to our inquiry about the A roadster pickup.
It was great meeting everybody and we thank all the street rodders that let us give them an NSRA safety inspection.
This kind of a day is what really makes our car hobby so much fun. Lets do it again--soon.

We also took a shop tour of Patrick's Upholstery and Rod Shop, where SKR8PN, Slick's truck is being painted, saw some very nice work being done there.
