Word has it that these fires are a terrorist act. Seems it was on their agenda since the mid 90s and has been used overseas. Then again, I hate to be called a Chicken Little at every alarm that goes off.

I had a house fire once. I'd like to say I know how you feel, but I don't think anyone could.
Our prayers are with you and everyone in SoCal.

I hope the fire spares your house, Jim. I cannot imagine losing everything you own and having to start over again.

Bummer Jim : Hope it misses you & your family & friends. Heard it was started by a hunter making a signal fire. Folks USE YOUR BRAINS & COMMON SENSE . I used to live in Silverado Canyon down that way, glad to be out of there. I used to get really P O 'd when I'd see someone toss their cigarette butt out the window. B-O-B

E-mailed my sis today, she lives in San Berdoo, being the smartass that I am asked her if she would like me to send her some marshmellows? She said YES please do. The fence & landscaping went up in smoke along with my nephews 70 el camino. They did save the house tho. She said the neighborhood is a complete disaster. B-O-B

From this summers fire ravaged British Columbia Canada area, May God Bless And Keep Ya'll....this is just too devestating.
I've close friends who were fighting our fires here tell me storys of coming home from a days fight on the line and heard a police loud speaker telling everyone to evacuate his area!
He quickly gathered family into their pre-packed vehicle, backed out of their driveway onto the road and as he looked in his rearview mirror all he could see was a wall of flames!!!
Mass chaos was EVERYWHERE, and no-one was going anywhere fast... Their place was saved!

Hi Doug & Sandy,
Well the car is painted and Bunny brought it home earlier. Doug, you are always sending me pictures and web sites, here is one for you. I was raised in San Bernardino, and lived there from 1944 to 1964. I'm hoping none of my homes are burnt. But one is close to the area. Del Rosa Foothills.

Hello Everyone,,,,just got back in this afternoon,my house is OK just smells like smoke and is dusty,we were very lucky, the brezze is coming from the west and blowing all the smoke out toward the east, thats good news for us. What happened was i was woke up by the wind saturday night2;30AM..they mentioned we were going to have high desert winds over the weekend.I thought i smelled smoke in the house. So i walked outside and looked straight out from my garage and i saw a hugh glow and flames i guessed about 5miles away with a 30 or 40 mile an hour wind coming right at me.I figured i had an 1/2hour tops.So i got Arlene up and while she loaded our 2 Labs in the back seat I moved my barbeque, oxy acetilene and some thinner and paints in a metal shed away from the house, and we took off and as we were pulling out i noticed all the neighbors lights were out so i started banging on doors getting them up,After i got the last one up the winds stopped so we went back to the house and about 2hours later they raged again but took a south west direction.Well anyway a long story short we headed for the beach and hoped for the best.and got very lucky,,,,,,,,thanks again Jim
