One of the best things that I did was to make a deal to buy everything needed as a package from a wrecked '87 Firebird. That way the motor/tranny, and other systems were matched. I used a 3:50 rear so as to match pretty close what the factory enginered. The car starts, runs very well. The most significant permormance surprise is that if you slightly punch the throttle, --it's instant responce with a chirp of the rear tires too. Second was the bing, bing, bing quick shift of the 700R tranny and its OD 4th gearing for hiway.

Surely Howell, Fuel Injection Specialties, & Street and Performance are your best sources for knowledge and a willingness to help if you have problems. I used a Painless harness from --much cheaper than the competition but well made. My impression was that SOME of their technical staff is not fully qualified to answer your help needs. LAST: be careful that you match everything to your motor. I would stay away from the first year TPI's. Also if you go 700R they say that by '88 all the bugs were worked out. Good luck, you'll love the TPI's for its dependable & driveability in a Streetrod.
