tupperware frame

I'm putting a tube framework in the boddy of the rodmonster to stiffen it up. (It will have doors) I was told that if you glass the frame directly to the body, the frame will "pattern" after a while and show thu to the outside.
One guy says to put a styrofoam like material between the frame and the glass body first to eliminate that. What if I bond the frame to the glass with silicone or that 3M 5000 marine adhesive before incapsulting the frame in resin and cloth? Dave

Dave, I know this may sound stupid, but why are you 'glassing a body to a frame??? I would assume that you never intend for the 2 pieces to part again.... When I did my T, I clamped the body to the frame before puting the floor pan in and since the 'glass was still a bit "green", it formed to the frame very well after about 6-7 weeks then I glassed in the floorpan and dropped in some junk bolts at the corners into predrilled holes.....Everything came out so close that from underneath, you couldn't see any light leaking thru..I still ended up using 2" wide electrical tape on top of the frame and installed the regular bolts and fender washers..There were no creaks or groans when I tightened the bolts down and used nylock nuts with probably no more than 20-25 in lbs of torque....

I'll be real curious to see some pics of the "rodmonster" when ya get it up and flying!!

Noooooooo,, I'm not glassing the body to the frame,,,,I'm building a frame to put into the body to stiffen it. I have a plywood floor pan already built which I will glass to the body, but the body needs an internal frame to mount the steering column, door hinges, roof and windsheild brackets too. I wanted to know if I could glue the frame to the body with a flexable adhesive so that the outside surface won't show where the frame was mounted. Dave
