OK planning a v butt flush mount windshield on my 39 chev pickup. I have welded the crank hole and hinge holes. My question is how much gap should i allow between the edge of the glass and the opening for the moulding to fit in? Ive searched the archives and this is the only measurement that i couldnt locate. THANKS

Not sure if I understand the question correctly. I have a 39 Chevy that I did my own glass for and this is what I did. If you mean the bevel in the center where the 2 pieces of glass come together then I would want the space as close as possible. I filled the seam with clear RTV. If you mean the outer perimeter, I started by having my glass made just a little larger than the window opening. I purchased a seal for the 39 from Wheels of Time. I believe he had seals for both butted and center strip. When I installed the glass I did have to have the glass trimmed a little from my orignal pattern. Hope this helps.

According to old school, run the two pieces of glass so you can pass the thickness of a match between the two. Ive done this several times and use a good quality clear silicone so as it wont yellow with time. Trim the excess from the glass when done and you will think a pro did it.
Hope this helps,
Woody

thanks guys, i am talking about the outer perimeter. i assume there needs to be a gap between the glass and the outer perimeter in order to place a moulding, such as the s-10 moulding to seal the edge of the glass

As mentioned in my previous post I used an original style molding for mine. I know glass shops can do the S-10 style. Why not talk to a glass shop and either have them do it or as long as you buy your supplies there they may give you direction.
