350 chev temps

can anyone tell me what the operating temps of a '71 350 chev are .....also what temp would be considered as overheating ???????

Everyone says 170- 180 is normal, or, optimal. I have a 160 'stat in, and, never really had problems. Too much? It shouldn't run above 190 going down the road, 210 is way too hot. Shoot for 170.

175-210 degrees is best. Check out this thread:

Heres what mine run- The 350 in my chevelle runs around 190 in town-after beating on it for a while =). The '70 350 in my '48 runs about 200-210 but I have too small of a radiator-need to invest in one of these custom built aluminum ones. When the 48 is around 180-it runs bad but when it hits 200 it runs great- Why does the temperature effect how the engine runs? Could it be timing?
