More power from a stock 350

Me again. Just got the new pink spings in the Edelbrock 600cfm. It really eliminated the hesitation off idle. My 73 P/U has a stock 350. I have upgraded the ignition to Petronix ignitor, Edelbrock 600 (1406), and added a dual exhaust. It's running quiet and steady now with lots of power off the line... no mo stumbli'n.

Is there anyother chages I can make to increase the HP without making a cam upgrade? I don't want to change the intake just now either. I have huntin season coming up and I want all to be "broke in" by then.

How about power tuning the carb? Any ideas? Any...?

Thanks,

Ed

Since you are sticking with the stock system, the only way to improve performance is thru remedial improvements in volumetric efficiency.

What this translates to is headers, high performance exhausts/mufflers, high performance intake swap (pretty easy and cheap), K&N air systems and keep in mind that some of these VE improvements may require you to rejet.

Another hp improvement can be made by moving to all synthetic lubricants. I recommend Mobile One or Amsoil for engine oil and so forth. You will be surprized at how much improvement you can get with this trick and push oil changes out to well over 10K miles safely!

Whatever you do, do not go to "reduction" or "underdrive" pulleys for performance improvements. These do not produce significant results and modern aftermarket high performance water pumps only take a couple of HP at full tilt!

I would guess that by reading the plugs you have already jetted the carb correctly. A too lean or too rich carb will rob power.

Good luck with your project and welcome to the board!
