can anyone give me advice for what grit sandpaper to use. I need to know what to use from the start to finish and would you recommend wetsanding. I want to sand everything down over winter, do you suggest going right to the bare metal and starting fresh? I plan on sanding it piece by pieceso should I pirmer it right after or should i do it all at one time? I am changing colours totally, so I 'm doing every single piece of metal on the car. Any info would be a great help, I have done a little bodywork before but i want my car to be done by me so it has more sentmental value, plus I can't afford to pay some shop to do it for me. Your info is greatly appreciated!!!

Your sanding info from Carl's posting is a very good one. At one time I wrote a posting to Carl about his advice to run a grinder with 24 grit over bare metal in order to get the bondo filler to "bond". I related this #24 grit stuff to the talented paint instructor for the Glasurit training centers and he & I just about did dodo upon hearing that advice. DO NOT take an 8" grinder to any bare metal if you expect it to have any life left--you'll destroy it!!!!! Myself I have worked aircraft (Boeing) as a hand former working metals too many 10 hour days contouring and working metals. You will quickly & permanantly destroy or ruin the metal using these large grinders. A good metal man will hate the Carl's of the world who have ruined the metal by taking #24 grit grinders to the metal. Dont believe either me? I suggest then you read the label on the filler product to see what grit they suggest is required to bond the filler to metal. 80 grit will bond, fact is put bondo on a piece of clean/degreased glass & try to get it off. Just my 4 cents work. Fred
