The new show AMERICAN HOT ROD starts tonight on the discovery channel. It comes on at 10:00 eastern time. I heard it comes from Coddingtons shop but I dont know for sure. It sure would be nice if they would build a basic "down to earth" hot rod that everyone could relate to and use their informantion for help in their own project. BUT,, That would not have enough Pizzazz for hollywood. Dale

There is actually a write up about it at the goodguys web site (good-guys.com) It sounds like they will go through the buildup of this years Boyd giveaway car. It should be interesting because I found American Chopper somewhat cool to watch at times. They also give other times it will air.
You would be a bit "woody" if you were a middle aged guy married to a hot young chick and your ex wife knew all about your finances and wrote your pay check. Only in California!

Sorry guys...I had made plans to watch this but we were next door for supper and a few drinkie-poos and my wife had one "poo" too many, resulting in a one point landing on her face, falling off the neighbours deck (3 feet) twisting her neck and occuring multiple facial cuts bruises and possibly a broken schnoze! No broken teeth. I had to carry her home as she could not see for the blood streaming down her face even after trying to stop the blood loss. She will be sore tomorrow but now she says she feels no pain!!! I tried to convince her that she feels no pain due to the 2 bottles of rotting grapes in her gut and she tells me "No, really its not that bad, I feel fine"!!
Man just wait'll she sees herself tomorrow morning before she gets in the shower!!!!

I watched the show (at least most of it!) Wasn't impressed with the yellow on the blue. A little to loud for my taste. But lost alot of respect for the man when he started chewing @$$ on the guys. I was suprised he didn't do more of the work himself. Just pays the guys to do most all of it. But the engine starting was FUNNY! It reminded me of the NASCAR Race earlier Sunday when Ryan Newman went into his pit leading the race and came out of the pits 8 laps down. Reason-----he accidentally hit the Kill Switch on the steering wheel!!!! Those poor pit guys tried push starting that thing about 12 times!!!!!!! It was funny BUT Not to Ryan 8-(

PS I would probably watch the rod show again but only if it was a little less Boyd!

Speeking about the American Chopper Series i knw a guy who used to work for Paul Sr. and he said that's no act for the show. He's 10 times worse without the cameras around.
But not to change the topic i kinda like tha paint on the Coddington roadster. i laughed my butt off when the kid got caught just before he jumped the race car and Boyd came ridding in yelling at everyone.

" I was surprized he didn't do more of the work himself".
Boyd doesn't do any of the work, it's his name and his ideas (most of the time). The only reason he turned a wrench on the show is because Discovery cameras were rolling. Yea, his life must be rough, LOL.

Please, keep restoring those cars to stock... So that someday my grandkids will still know what it feels like to cut one up and build a hot rod!

I wasn't impressed at all with the show....I mean when you have 9 guys, and all brand new parts to work with, and they work in a rod shop to begin with....that shouldn't be a problem for them to put one together in six weeks....lets see them take a rust bucket and revive it starting with working the frame, converting from old style suspension to a new 4 link, maybe mustang II front end, suicide the doors, shave the handles, chop the top....now this might take them a little bit longer and would actually be interesting to see....

Boyd looked like a 70 year old trying to be a few years too few!! It must be hell tho working thru a bankruptcy and like it was said, yur ex gets to write yur check!! I couldn't take that...
The car build was pretty good tho and looked cool when done except for the (like the guys said) the yellow trim didn't fit at all...I laughed like hell when all of those "pro's" were trying to start the thing and there was no rotor in the distributer!!!!! "gee, I don't know whats wrong with it..." lolol
I still to this day think that upholstery work is mostly black magic and still do after watching those guys do the interior!! Guess it's a matter of experience but all the same,......I've had it up over the eyeballs with American Chopper and J. James Munster Garage!!!! Motorcycle Mania was just old clips of James doing the same old build and run to Sturgis!! About 10 seconds into it I realized what it was and started surfing but on a Sunday night, people go to bed early for a reason! Us retired types with insomnia find ourselves playing Solitaire about 2-3 AM and with this sxxx hot puter I have now, it's so fast it plays the game all by itself!! This is the world of Mr. Data now...lol
