Al Pepper's 1937 Ford Roadster Rod of the Month Winner January 2002Owner
PEP034
Description
This, I am told, is one of only 1250 37 Ford roadsters ever produced. My wife fell in love with a 37 cabriolet the first time she saw one. Well she said I had my rod and she wants hers. So I was on the hunt for one. Now as word got around I was given leads but I soon figured out they are hard to come by. As chance would have it, while I was on a rod run a couple of years ago, a rodder that knew that I was searching told me about this roadster up north. Well a long story short I contacted the guy, struck a deal and we finalised it at the Valla run in 1999. I had plans of my wife driving this back home....a 680Km trip. I took it for one drive and decided to put it on the back of a truck. It was damn too dangerous!. It had been rodded for many years but the last owner slapped in a blown 327 Chev, T400, 9" diff....I say slapped in cause it was not quite legal. Once I got the car home I pondered a while on which way to approach this. I decided a ground up rebuild. Once it was completely stripped a lot of sin was revealed. The chassis rails were rusted and twisted. The body had started to rust and the paint lifting off. As of January 2001, I have just about completed the repairs to the chassis and completely boxed the rails tip to stern. The Chevy has a new home and a strong and dependable 351 clevo now lives between the rails. I have a picture build up that will surface when I get the time.
This is my ride, and I'd like to edit it.
