Description
THIS CAR STARTED OUT WITH A DRAWING ON THE FLOOR IN THE GARAGE, WITH A 100 INCH WHEELS BASE. THE FRAME IS MADE OUT OF "C" CHANNEL WITH A TUBULAR CROSS MEMBER AT THE FRONT AND SQUARE TUBE CROSS MEMBERS AT THE REAR AND IN THE MIDDLE FOR THE TRANS MOUNT. THE ENGINE IS A BASICALLY STOCK 350 ENGINE PUTTING OUT AND HONEST 350 HP. HIGH STALL CONVERTER AND SHIFT KIT IN THE 350 TRANS SEND THE POWER BACK TO A '57 CHEVY, 4:11 GEARED REAR END. THE FRONT END IS ALL CHROME, TUBULAR DOUBLE DROP AXEL (SIMULAR TO WHAT IS NORMALLY SEEN ON A '32 ROADSTER). DISC ON FRONT AND DRUMS ON THE REAR. THE CAR WEIGHT IS JUST OVER 1400 POUNDS. THE POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO IS JUST FINE. 15 INCH WIDE WHEELS ON THE REAR AND SPINDLE MOUNTED SPOKED WHEELS ON THE FRONT. CORVAIR STEARING BOX IS USED TO GUIDE THE BUCKET AROUND TOWN. HAND FABRICATED "FRICTION SHOCKS" ARE BUILD INTO THE FRONT END, WITH A "SORT OF" COIL OVER ON THE REAR. THE REAR IS CENTERED WITH TRACTION BARS ON BOTH SIDES AND A PANARD BAR CONNECTING THE FRAME TO THE AXEL HOUSING. IT HANDLES GREAT WITH NO LEAN IN THE TURNS. ALTHOUGH THE RIDE IS A LITTLE STIFF (?).
THIS CAR TOOK 1.5 YEARS TO BUILD AND WAS BUILT ABOUT TEN YEARS AGO. THE COLOR IS DARK RED WITH BLACK INTERIOR. THE CAR ALSO HAS A SOFT TOP. WITH THE TOP IN PLACE IT LOOKS LIKE AN OUTHOUSE ON WHEELS. AS ANYONE THAT HAS DRIVEN A BUCKET KNOWS, THEY ARE VERY QUICK. THIS ONE "WORKS" VERY WELL, HOOKS UP AND VANISHES QUICKLY WHEN THE LOUD PETAL IS PUSHED (THE FRONT WHEELS STAY ON THE GROUND MOST OF THE TIME).
NO HOOD, NO HEATER, NO RADIO, NO WIPERS, NO AIRCONDITIONING, IT'S GOT EVERYTHING !!
