ag_chevy
Description
We built the truck in under 5 months on a gravel parking pad, and on a very limited budget. Karen and I built or installed everything ourselves except brake lines and the welding in of the front crossmember.
Some of the features are...
Mustang II front suspension with Camaro power disc brakes and power steering.
Chev 305/T350 combo.
10 bolt rear on Dodge caravan springs, 3:08 gears.
3" chopped top.
Tinted, power windows.
Paint?? We don' need no stinking paint!
Was driven daily for 2 1/2 years, with over 45,000 miles since August 1998.
Wow, picked for Feb 2002 ROTM! We're honoured and touched by the award. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who voted for us!
A bit of info on some upgrades that will be/have happening to the beast...
Winter of 2002 will see a rebuilt 1996 Chevy 305 ci small block installed. It has early (pre-87) 305ci 4 bbl heads that have been mildly ported, Edelbrock Performer intake and 600 cfm carb, Crane Energizer 272H Cam, and (finally) a ton of chrome accessories. I've decided that I want the engine compartment to look nice. Might leave the duct tape on the firewall, though. :-)
I've already installed a rebuilt Turbo 350 with a Stage II shift kit and a 2200 stall converter. We've also added power steering, new tinted glass and a 400 watt sound system. The top was chopped 3" in April 2002 along with some fresh primer, and some Astro Supremes with skinny whitewalls were added in July. Hopefully during the winter of 2002-3 we will finally get started on the much needed bodywork.
One thing we've done is retire the truck from winter driving. The 2 years I used the truck as my only transportation have taken it's toll on the primer. We plan to use it only for summer cruising now, and it will NEVER be on a trailer, unless it's seriously broken.
This is my ride, and I'd like to edit it.
